This page includes nomination forms for each of the Cups awarded at the Club AGM as listed in the Yearbook. Please note the Harold Newman Trophies for Show Dog & Bitch of the year are awarded automatically and do not need to be claimed.
Please read criteria carefully for each award. Those with the highest points total may be asked to produce evidence to validate the claim.
Nominations are for the previous year and are open from the 1st January to 28th February each year. Nominations made outside of this time period will not be counted.
The competition rules are:
- An award will be allocated for inclusion in the Yearbook, but the Trophy will not be given if the owner of the dog is not a member. In multi-ownership all owners should be members.
- Trophies are not available to any member not resident in the UK.
- Trophies will only be presented at the AGM and the recipient must have been a member for the full year for which the award is claimed. The year to be taken as January 1st to December 31st.
- Detailed claims, i.e. date, venue and award must reach the Annual Points Trophy Steward by the AGM Committee Nominations closing date of the following year.
- The National Gundog Association to count as a Group
- Best in Show at any Breed Club Championship Show to only count as a Best of Breed
- Points for Breed class wins in Championship Shows without C.C.s count as an Open Show
- The points scheme for the CH. MARKSMAN O’MATHERN, the RHIWIDERIN and THE TARBAY POINTS trophies are given below. However, points cannot be accumulated at any one show – only the HIGHEST award must be counted at any show, trial or test, e.g.: A dog at a Championship Show wins Limit (5) – Open (5) and the C.C. (8) and goes on to be Best of Breed (10). Only the 10 points for Best of Breed count.
(A and B) – ‘THE DOG OF THE YEAR’ Trophy and Runner Up
The purpose of the Ch. Marksman O’Mathern Trophy is to ascertain and honour the ‘Dog of the Year’, one who has gained success BOTH in the field and on the bench. Points can only be gained at events not run by the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club and those points must include some gained in at least two work and two show events.
The Rhiwiderin Trophy will be awarded to the runner up.
