Judge’s comments: ‘I would like to thank all who braved the storms and floods to attend the show, and also everyone who entered but could not attend, or missed their classes. Thank you also to the Committee, to Mary, and to my stewards for all their hard work. I had some problems finding type and good movement together in some classes, my placings reflect this.’

Minor Puppy Dog (3 entries, 1 absent)

  ‘Good head, neck and bone, lovely outline. Nice quarters and hocks, will settle more with practice.’
2nd: Issott’s Cerysan Chance To Shine
  ‘Slightly larger than 1 and not quite as mature otherwise another nice youngster.’

‘Although only two present both are worthy of red cards, 1 just had the edge on maturity in the end.’

  ‘Nice young dog who gave his handler a hard time! Masculine head without coarseness, good length of neck and has plenty of bone. Nice depth of brisket and spring of rib for his age, good strong quarters and enough width across the loin for his age. Should do well when he settles a fraction more. Loads of character!’
2nd: Davis’ Julita Ranger
  ‘Another very nice puppy with a lovely outline showing a correct rise over the loin, good head with nice expression, long neck, straight front and good quarters. Moved well, a slower maturer than 1.’

  ‘Elegant young dog who will still take some more time to mature. Nice head and eye, plenty of bone, deep brisket. Good bend of stifle, full tail which he used well on the move. Moved well.’

  ‘Nice strong working dog with balanced head, good deep brisket, well boned with a long and strong neck. Nice shape and body, strong quarters with good second thighs. Moved okay.’

  ‘A younger less mature dog who has quite a bit of maturing to do. Good bone, head needs to develop, moved okay.’

  ‘Elegant young dog who needs a bit more time to develop fully. Balanced head but could be a bit more masculine, good topline and strong quarters. Moved well, really using his hocks.’

  ‘Lovely young dog with a lovely head and expression, straight well boned front, nice feet. Good topline and well made quarters. Very bouncy on the move, with a little more practice he will do well. A lovely type with loads of character.’

  ‘What a gorgeous boy! A true Welsh Springer. Lovely masculine head without any coarseness. Nice eyes that just sparkle with mischief and character, good neck, front and bone. Deep brisket and nicely sprung ribs, compact strong body with correct rise over the loin. Good bend of stifle and width of second thighs. Moved okay. Quite a character! RBD. Pleased to see that he gained his title at LKA.’

Judge’s comments: ‘A lovely day, 128 dogs making 157 entries with very few absentees. Generally a very good standard throughout, size varied throughout which is a bit concerning. Also length of body varied, some getting too long and unbalanced. I thank the Committee for making us very welcome and to my Stewards for their efficiency.’

  ‘Promising youngster with a very enthusiastic outlook. Good head with correct skull and gentle eye. Moderate neck, good front and feet, OK body proportions. When he settled for a few seconds he moved true.’

  ‘Overall a nice shape, did not have the head of one, perhaps a shade long in body but early days yet. Moved OK when settled.’
